A very eventful week in the sports world as the girls and boys Varsity had two games.
On Wednesday, the Girls Varsity went on the road to face the St. Pius Warriors and came up short, with three of their seven players fouling out. The girls did not hang their heads on the loss as they crushed the Daniel Academy Lions on Thursday night. Unfortunately, during the tournament in Boston, Senior Gabby Sosland had a tough ankle injury. However, she hopes to return for senior night.
The Boys Varsity continues to stay cold as they have not won a conference game since December 4th. They traveled to face Frontier STEM but could never get into a solid rhythm as they lost by nearly 30 points. It’s disappointing for them because they beat Frontier STEM by 43 points earlier in the season. The next day, they played the conference’s top-ranked team, Daniel Academy, and lost by 6 in a close, aggressive game. With high expectations of this year’s season under new head coach Tavis Turner, the team falls to a poor 2-10 record on the season.
On Saturday night, the Varsity teams will host Midland as the boys try to get back on track and the girls continue their fight for the top. However, with a big snowstorm approaching, cancellation is definitely possible.
