This week, the freshmen and sophomore classes welcomed guest speaker journalist Dan Margolies in preparation to embark on their biennial Civil Rights Trip. Throughout his presentation on Esther Brown, about whom he is writing a book, students learned about this unassuming Jewish housewife in Johnson County who desegregated local schools in 1949 (five years before Brown v. Board). Image by Uriel Noorollah
